The answer to why I'm writing this is because I needed the exact information when I was just a freshie.. because I love cakes obviously!
1. Readers' Cafe, Miguel de Benavides Library
Mango Mousse
Banana Cake
Red Velvet Cake
From top to bottom, left to right: Oreo Cheesecake, Coffee Fantasy, Red Velvet Cake, Carrot Cake, Chocolate Mousse, Mango Mousse, Blueberry Cheesecake, New York Cheesecake, Sandwiches (Salami, Ham and Cheese, etc.), BTS Cake, Iced tea bottles
My number one recommendation would have to be Readers' Cafe! The lovely smell and ambiance plus the affordable prices makes it on top of the list. Mango Mousse is my personal favorite, with Red Velvet as an occasional option. Their bestseller however is BTS which stands for Better than Sex. With that being the name, I have no doubt why, but I still think it's too overrated since it's just a chocolate cake with buttercream icing and red shavings of something sweet which I must know pretty soon what is called.
2. Thomas Aquinas Research Center (Cafe near the Lobby)
The hidden building of UST houses the grad school students and this cafe. Aside from cakes, they have breads and croissants compared to The Readers' Cafe which has sandwiches and more cake options.
3. Figaro Coffee, UST Hospital
Strawberry Medditerenean Cheesecake
Carrot Cake
Figaro, we all know Figaro. This one is located in the Doctor's Clinic of UST Hospital, hidden from the university campus. The guards can be tricky when you try to enter just to check this place out but it's worth it. Most people who eat here are not students. The prices are higher than the two previous cafes but it is a good option when you want to feel like you're outside the uni when in fact, you are still inside.
4. FamilyMart, Quadricentennial Pavilion
I was all smiles about knowing that they have a Strawberry Cake Roll, since I love strawberry cakes so much! The Mango Cake Roll also looks promising and I know some people who are fans of green tea who would love the Green Tea Cake Roll. The star seems to be the Tiger Cake Roll, since this branch is located at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion (hello Growling Tigers), which houses the UST athletes. No other cake can be as Thomasian as that! They have a second floor for dine-ins.
5. Coffee Nook, UST Hospital
They don't have much selections but still better than nothing, and maybe you're just around the hospital looking for something to eat quick other than Figaro. My friend said that their cakes look like they were from S&R.
6. Starbucks Coffee, UST Carpark
They only have chocolate cake last time checked, but Starbucks is too overrated so I suggest skipping this as much as possible.
7. Seattle's Best Coffee, Quadricentenial Pavilion
They have some good choices of cakes. I've never entered this one yet, since it just opened this month. I saw that they have a second floor which I think looks really cute.
8. 7-eleven, UST Carpark
This convenience store has some slices of chocolate cake and the usual but they only have very limited stocks.
P.S. You can still find lots of cakes outside and still near UST, but notice how this post is titled with the word "in" so I didn't include those! Hope I helped you with your cake cravings or cake emergency or any cake-related problem. :D
